Chris has been in the real estate appraisal business since 2013. Chris is a Certified General appraiser and focuses primarily on commercial property. Chris has worked on complex valuation assignments including mixed use retail developments, pipeline easements, and cold storage facilities. Always seeking to meet the highest standard, Chris earned his MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute in 2021.

Matt has been working in the appraisal business since 2015 and is a Certified General appraiser and focuses primarily on commercial property. Matt has worked on complex valuation assignments including mixed use retail developments, apartment properties, industrial, land and special use properties. Matt works regularly with a variety of clients including local lenders, investors, and property owners. Matt is a Practicing Affiliate with the Appraisal Institute. .

Thomas Allen

Thomas joined Vail Appraisal in 2020 after a 17-year career as a Registered Nurse. Thomas earned his VA Real Estate Appraiser License in 2019 and has completed the Certified Residential Licensure in 2022.

While not working, Thomas enjoys spending his time reading and woodworking.

John joined Vail Appraisal in 2022 after a career in sales with The Roanoke Times and Coca-Cola Consolidated. John earned his VA Real Estate Appraiser License in 2022 and is currently pursuing his Certified Residential Licensure.
In his free time, John enjoys golfing, canoeing, and hiking with his family.

Janet Ball

Janet has been in the administrative role since June of 2021 and is an experienced real estate professional and has been working in the Real Estate industry since 1989 including mortgage lending, as well as in Title and Settlement for both residential and commercial properties.

While not working, Janet enjoys travelling, camping and spending time with family.
Jack Bailey

Bio
Jack joined Vail Appraisal full time in December 2022, after graduating from Virginia Tech. He has worked as an intern with Vail Appraisal since 2018. Jack is pursuing his Certified General Licensure and hopes to be completed in 2025.

M. Scott Vail, SRA

BIO
Scott established Vail Appraisal in 2008 after an extensive career in Mechanical Engineering and Systems Optimization. He approaches Real Estate valuation analytically and objectively and specializes in complex residential valuations. He has exceeded the industry standard by earning his SRA designation through the Appraisal Institute.
In 2024, Scott transitioned away from the ownership and management of the company. He is now available for limited complex assignments and consultations.
While not working, Scott enjoys spending time with his grandkids, mountain biking and trail running.
